Time for a change

I needed something. I wasn't sure exactly what. It was time for a change.Welcome to rockThink. I'm sure you're wondering what the change is from rcThink.com.I'll be posting new information over here at rockThink. New information about making a good life, digital nomadism, productivity and more of the really cool ideas I found all over the web. This isn't just going to be another blog that posts links to everything else online. I'm going to do my best to pull together the best of the best and put my own unique spin on it. I don't want to just puke out more links to stuff you've probably already seen. I want to take a moment to think about it, to take a moment to really dig into some of the best ideas around the web and why they're important. I want to see how we can take these amazing ideas that make my brain spin they're so cool and bring them down to a regular person level where you and I can put them into our lives and spin them just how we want to.There will be some writing on nature and outdoor adventure. I spend most of my day wishing I was outside so I'm bound to write about it at some point. There will be some lessons learned from building PureOutside and my day job as a programmer. I spend 3/4 of my day doing one those 2 things. I better have learned a few things. And there will be some writing on random ideas I've found on the internet that I thought were really cool. Not really useful but really cool. Often ideas end up being useful at some point. But most of the things I find aren't terribly useful yet. I will find a use for them eventually. Really!Oh, and there will be some pretty photos to look at as well. Some will be mine, most will be from the wonderful interwebs. Wherever they are from, pretty photos are pretty. Here are a few of my favourite posts from over the years.Move. Play. Go Outside. Why Start?A big pile of bones under Paris6 new habits to help you get those projects done2011: Year of the HustleGlad you could make it and happy reading.

Rcthink Facelift

Hey Everyone!I'm assuming you'll notice the new theme I've slapped on Rcthink. I loved the blue theme called Irresistible that I had on here for quite a while. But it was time for a change. The blog is getting seen by more and more eyeballs every day and while the dark blue was nice, it just didn't cut it when it came to the image I wanted to portray. Hope you all like the new one and let me know if you see any problems with it! I'll be tinkering around with the settings over the next few days !Thanks!

A Change in Direction: Lifestyle Design, Personal Development and Minimalism

Which way to go?For those of you that have been following the blog recently, I've been crafting tales from my trip to Australia and New Zealand. Now that I'm home and saving up for the next trip I need something a little different to write about. While I was travelling, blogs about working abroad, planning out your life and becoming the absolute best person you can be held my attention constantly and I benefited from their advice a great deal.To test out these new ideas and techniques, I'm going to start challenges for myself. In doing these I'll have interesting ideas for the blog as well as learn an incredible amount myself. To start off these grand adventures, I'm launching my first three 30 day challenges this coming turkey Monday(I'm in Canada). Be sure to check in then to see what I'll be up to for the next 30 days. But wait! There's more! (I'm not trying to sell you anything just some interesting reading).A few of my favorite blogs that have inspired this change in direction.Leo at Zen Habits has a thing or two to say about minimalism.Dave from LifeExcursion has just recently started The Minimalist Path. Ones lifestyle design, ones minimalism, both fantastic reads.Celeste from The Personal Excellence Blog has a lot to say about living life to the fullest and achieving your potentialCorbett from Free Pursuits, JD from WageSlaveRebel and Cody from Thrilling Heroics all push designing your life to do exactly what you want to do. For them that means leaning heavily towards being Location Independent (another great read by Lea)I know blogs tend to have more of a focus but I had a hell of a time trying to narrow it down to these topics.  I'm sure it will get more focused as I find what I'm most interested in writing but for now anything goes! What do you guys think? Is it possible to write enough to hold up 3 topics like this?

The Blog is Back

After some brief down time yesterday and today, the blog is back. I'm not sure exactly what happened but after trying autoupdate the files the whole thing went kablooey.

I thought there might be an easy fix so I hopped into the code to see what was going on. Everything looked A ok. I deleted everything and uploaded all the files again. Another problem. A different problem. Making progress.

I was uploading the files with Filezilla and every few files an error message would pop up, it would disconnect, reconnect and then begin to transfer again. I'm not sure what was causing the issue but it chopped up all my files pretty good.

I had to download Aptana to edit some of the php files so I used that to upload the rest of the wordpress files again. We are, I think, almost ready to go again.

Aside from the missing graphic at the top. We're up and running again. I apologize to those who were trying to read the posts while it was down! That'll teach me to try an autoupdate while out of the country!
